CURRICULA
Array of Colors Developed and written by Stacy Everson, RN, BSN and Kathryn Pedgrift, PsyD. The Array of Colors series is designed to teach people with developmental disabilities how to create meaningful and safe relationships and increase awareness of abuse and coercion. The lessons are divided into 6 separate books so that social skills are taught in the context of relationships. Every book includes a user friendly teacher's guide, color pictures in hard copy or DVD format, and a variety of student activities and role-playing scenarios. Book 1 Purple - SELF
Focuses on one's relationship with self; building self-esteem, learning about feelings, developing boundaries and assertiveness training. 
Book 2 Blue - SPECIAL SOMEONE/COUPLES
(choice of one)
Focuses on one's relationship with a special someone. Recognizes healthy & appropriate relationships with others and identifies appropriate boundaries.
*COUPLES includes the above along with a beginning understanding of heterosexual and homosexual relationships. 
Book 3 Green - FAMILY
Focuses on one's relationship with family. Recognizes diverse family structures, feelings within the family, appropriate boundaries, and family responsibilities. 
Book 4 Yellow - FRIENDS
Focuses on one's relationships with friends and aquaintances within the community. Identifies conflict resolution and boundaries with friends. 
Book 5 Orange - ACQUAINTANCES
Focuses on one's largest social contact group. Differentiates between friends and acquaintances and identifies boundaries. 
Book 6 Red - STRANGERS
Focuses on appropriate etiquette with strangers. Explores coercive situations and identifies boundaries. 
The Array of Colors comes with a vinyl Relationships poster, and your choice of the following format options:
DVD in color with B/W hard copy of pictures
Color overheads with B/W hard copy of pictures. 
The Array of Colors curriculum also includes a Trainer's Guide and 3 DVDs that show how to use the curriculum most effectively. 
Sexuality
Focuses on puberty, masturbation, sexual touches vs. helping touches, abusive touches and the laws that dictate appropriate behavior. It also discusses making the decision to have sex. 
Abuse Awareness/Prevention
Defines abuse as primarily verbal, sexual, and physical. Discusses the differences between inappropriate touching and illegal touching, laws that govern abuse and what the victim can do if he or she is abused but uncomfortable reporting it. 
Assertiveness Training
Focuses on practical situations that people with disabilities face and how to speak up and decrease abuse by being assertive and getting help.
